“Start by doing what is necessary, then what is possible, and suddenly you will be doing the impossible.”

The Franciscan Fraternity of Hope is a simple Franciscan community of brothers who seek to follow Christ in the spirit of Saint Francis.
We are a small community inspired by their charism and by the desire to live the Gospel with simplicity, joy, and depth. We are born from the conviction that hope is a humble light that transforms daily life and opens paths where everything seems closed. We believe that God acts in what is small, fragile, and close, and that community is a space where the heart learns to be converted and to love.
Our life flows from the Christian tradition, nourished by prayer, the listening of the Word, and silent contemplation. Authentic fraternity is the place where we seek to recognize God’s presence in every person and in every moment. We aspire to be a spiritual home where anyone can find comfort, accompaniment, and a space of peace.
From this simple spirituality, we walk with those who seek inner growth, offer times of silence and encounter, and promote initiatives of justice, care for creation, and humble service to the most vulnerable. We hope that every gesture may reveal something of God’s goodness and the dignity of every human being.
We desire to be witnesses of the hope that renews life. Many find in this path reconciliation, serenity, or a joy they thought lost. Our mission is to accompany, support, and sow hope wherever life becomes fragile, trusting that the Gospel has the power to transform existence when lived with simplicity and trust.
We walk open to dialogue and collaboration with other Christian communities and traditions, recognizing that the Spirit acts where it wills and that fraternity grows when it is shared. We do not seek to occupy a place, but to offer a humble service, in the spirit of Franciscan minority.
We entrust ourselves to Jesus Christ, source of peace and hope, and to the intercession of Mary, model of listening and surrender. May her example help us live with a simple, grateful, and fraternal heart, as Francis did, who saw in every creature a reflection of divine love.
Charism
The charism of the Franciscan Fraternity of Hope springs from the desire to live the Gospel with simplicity, fraternity, and trust. It does not arise from complex structures or institutional models, but from a spiritual intuition: God acts in what is small, humble, and ordinary, and there He makes hope flourish.
Our fraternity is inspired by the charism of Saint Francis —their love for evangelical simplicity, their fraternal spirit, and their luminous way of seeing life. We also draw from contemporary expressions of the Gospel lived with freshness, such as the Community of Taizé, where simple prayer, hospitality, and reconciliation become paths of unity and peace.
From this root, our charism can be expressed in three words:
Simplicity
We live the faith without complications, seeking what is essential. Prayer, fraternal life, and daily service are the places where God reveals Himself most clearly.
Fraternity
We recognize one another as brothers, called to walk together, to listen, to support one another, and to build spaces where all can feel welcomed. Authority is lived as humble service, in the style of those who encourage through closeness rather than power.
Hope
We believe that God continues to act in the world and that every life can become a sign of light. Our mission is simple: to accompany, console, serve, and open paths where hope can be reborn.
This charism is not a human project but a gift received. It is the concrete way in which the Spirit invites us to follow Christ today: with a poor, joyful, and trusting heart, convinced that what is small can transform the world.
The fraternity was born and walks in the United Kingdom, in a simple and everyday context where hope becomes life. In its first steps, it is accompanied by Br. +Mario, founder and first Minister Custos, who carries out this service with listening, closeness, and Franciscan simplicity.
